NXT General Manager, Ava, just announced a brand-new championship coming to the promotion; the North American Women’s Championship.
The announcement came during WrestleMania weekend’s NXT Premium Live Event, Stand & Deliver. After a tag match where Thea Hail, Fallon Henley, and Kelani Jordan defeated Jacy Jayne, Kiana James, and Izzi Dame, GM Ava appeared on screen. There she talked about the strength of the women’s division in NXT and announced the brand-new championship.
It is not known when a new champion will be crowned, or the process NXT will hold in order to crowd one. The title looks similar to the men’s North American Championship, only instead of red leather, its white.
The surprise announcement of the new championship is just the first of WrestleMania 40 weekend, where who knows what other announcements and surprises will be announced in Philadelphia.
